Tambopata, The Dream and the Story

It was over 30 years ago that I met and fell in love with tropical rain forests. What started in Guatemala peaked in a visit to Tambopata National Reserve in Peru 15 years later. Here I met Eduardo Nycander and Kurt Holle, two young men that pioneered the development of ecolodges and a model for ecotourism. They are incredible leaders that had a dream and turned the dream into a viable tool for conservation in Tambopata.

By inventing ways to over come the challenges of managing an enterprise to make money that contributes to the well being of the rainforest, the local people, the employees, visitors the shareholders and other stakeholders, they have created a success This video is a brief version of the dream and the story.
